Find a Story

The stories available on this page were recorded by ordinary people, interviewing their loved ones, friends, and colleagues about subjects that touch us all: love and hope, illness and death, parenthood and childhood, growing up and growing old, work and art, joy and despair.

Here, you'll find personal stories from the Museum of the Person in Brazil, and stories collected by UNICEF (www.unicef.org) from Ghana, Pakistan, Tanzania, Uganda, and soon we'll also share stories from students at One Laptop per Child (OLPC) schools in various countries.

To begin listening to these stories, use the map to browse by location or use the pull-down list below to find available stories by collection/country. When using the map, click on a country to zoom in until you see all available pins (they may appear to be stacked on top of each other at higher views) and click a map pin to see information on that story. You can also use the navigation bar to the left to zoom in and out on the map, and drag your cursor to move your view to different areas of the map. Note: These stories can be heard in their native languages, just as they were spoken by the storytellers. They have not been transcribed or dubbed for translation into other languages.
