The Our Stories™ founding partners have joined together to collect, preserve, and share cultural identities around the world through personal storytelling and oral histories. Each partner brings unique focus, strengths, and resources to this project.

One Laptop per Child (OLPC) (www.laptop.org): OLPC's goal is "to provide children around the world with new opportunities to explore, experiment, and express themselves." To achieve this, OLPC is designing and distributing inexpensive laptops to millions of children in developing countries. These laptops feature the Our Stories recording activity, through which children will interview parents, grandparents, and others in their families and communities. Then, they'll save and share these interviews with other children using OLPC laptops and the Our Stories web site. Soon, these students will be able to upload and share their stories with the world directly.

UNICEF (www.unicef.org): UNICEF is on the ground in over 150 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. The world’s largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments. In its partnership with Our Stories, UNICEF is providing on-the-ground resources in-country to provide the children it serves with ways to tell and record their stories. It is also extending these efforts through the UNIwiki project, a platform that provides a voice for young people everywhere, particularly in developing countries.

Google (www.google.com): In keeping with Google's mission "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful" and its passion for sharing knowledge across cultures, the company is providing resources for the Our Stories web site, for development work on the OLPC laptops, and for organizing resources in developing countries.
